International Organization for Standards (ISO). Many people have heard of ISO followed by a number, but few have experienced it in an operating framework. What is ISO and what's the value to organizations?
For starters, ISO is an independent and non-governmental organization driven on membership and the largest developer of voluntary global standards started in 1947. With over 18,000 standards for technology and business, ISO helps create and deliver trusted, safe and effective goods and services globally to retail consumers and businesses.
When businesses implement an ISO standard, it's a move to ensure safe, reliable and good quality is delivered in every work order. Working with standards allows businesses to further implement other practices (Six Sigma as an example) and really apply continuous improvement.
So, what's hot in ISO today?
1. Risk Assessment
2. Corporate Governance
3. Disaster Recovery
4. Information Security
5. Computer Forensics
7. Pen Testing
And this list goes on. As a training and development professional, I have had the opportunity to work with many corporations, the DoD, government agencies and academia in and around IT tech, sales, business, manufacturing and HR training initiatives. We are very excited about our new relationship to deliver ANSI accredited and CPD credit issuing training across more than 150 ISO standards!
